In memoriam: John R. Castle, Jr.
1943-2022

John R. Castle, Jr., lived a life of abundant grace. He was a citizen, a Christian gentleman, a lifelong learner, and, toward the end, a member of the Board of the MacMillan Institute since its inception. He loved and served those who are often unseen in culture. His deep wisdom, gained throughout a lifetime of study and service to others, was indispensable during the inaugural year of the MacMillan Institute, whose creation he oversaw and guided with insightful eyes and a strong, steady hand. He understood the importance of the work bequeathed to us by Drs. Louise and Donald Cowan. On October 17, 2022, we lost our dear friend and guide. John is still with us in spirit, but we shall miss him every day.
